Both April and Joe are musicians who are immersed in traditional music. For April she grew up absorbing
the Ottawa Valley style of fiddling and is an excellent step dancer. She is also a past winner of the
Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Championship and the Canadian Open Old-Time Fiddle Contest at the
ages of 18 and 19.
Joe absorbed the repertoire of great Missouri fiddlers and moving to North Carolina became a fixture in
the old time music scene there. He is a frequent guest on the “Prairie Home Companion.” He is a much
sought after teacher at music camps such as the Swannanoa Gathering and the American Banjo Camp
Kathy Kallick is no stranger to audiences in Sebastopol and the greater Sonoma County area having
appeared at the Sonoma County Bluegrass & Folk Festival several time both with her bluegrass band and
in collaboration with Nina Gerber. Kathy is a prolific songwriter, the quality of which are still on an
upward trajectory. Kathy Kallick’s exceptional career includes winning a Grammy and two IBMA Awards, receiving a Lifetime Membership from the California Bluegrass Association, co-founding the internationally-acclaimed Good Ol’ Persons, and collaborating with the country’s top acoustic musicians – including her mighty band: Annie Staninec (fiddle), Greg Booth (dobro, banjo), Tom Bekeny (mandolin), and Cary Black (acoustic bass), all of whom are also wonderful singers.
