New Traveling Outreach Jam on August 26

July 20, 2023

New Traveling SoCoFoSo Outreach Jam
First episode 8/26 at Ives Park, 1:30-4pm
Look for us on or near the wooden stage on the western side of the park

How did you first hear about the Sonoma County Folk Society and its jams? I learned about them back when the SoCoFoSo took over the Luther Burbank Center for a well publicized Folk Festival each year and saw folks jamming in the halls before shows. How would someone new learn about us and our jams now? Where is our next generation?

The SoCoFoSo board has ok’d a new traveling jam, somewhat milder than a flash mob, but along the same lines, to spread the word and jam for fun. We will bring a SoCoFoCo banner and meet at varying parks and other legal public spaces to play a couple hours of folk music, weather permitting. The members of JamNation, other folk society members and any nonmembers are invited.

There will be a few ground rules since we are out in public:

Bring your own chair and refreshments.
Come prepared to suggest a song or two, especially well known ones such as from the Rise Up Singing book or common fiddle tunes.
If you plan to lead a song, make sure that you know it well and the chords are easy to follow – no jam-buster tunes.
This is not a performance, we are not busking.

Contact me for questions or if you want to RSVP (suggested),
